My humble beginnings began in a little state tucked away on the east coast. That state would be the state that is "for lovers", Virginia. I was born and raised in Virginia, in the Hampton Roads area. I am an only child. Yes, no brothers, no sisters. Just me, mom and dad. Now, before you take this information and run with it, I was not spoiled being an only child. I remained in this area and state till I relocated out of state for the first time moving to Maryland. From there, I relocated to California and then Texas. Oh!, wait a minute I am getting ahead of the story. We're talking about my beginnings.
I was a 70's baby and I'm proud of it. I grew up in a brick ranch style home. My bedroom was so magical and freighting as a child. My room originally had white walls, until my dad decided it would be great to change the color of my room. They agreed on yellow and so it was. To me it was magical and brought the sunshine right into my room. At this point in my life, I needed extra sunshine. When I was first born we lived in a small detached house on my father's mom property. We remained there till I was about 1 years old. Then we moved to apartments. My life really changed when we moved to those apartments. It wasn't all bad at first. I can remember my mom sitting me outside the apartment to play in the hallway. Now remember this was during the 70's and things were a lot different then. I can remember playing with some of the older children in the building those were some good times. My parents lived there till I was 3 years old and then they moved into a brand new brick house in a court. For now, I will just give you the highlights of my beginnings.
To this day, my mom still lives in the same house. So many stories to share , so much happened in this span, but we are sticking to the highlights for now. I would leave home for the second time at the age of 15 to live with my soon to be husband. I actually started staying with him before we were officially married. We were officially married when I turned 16. One day soon I will share more on this story with you. The third time I moved out from my parents home I was 21.
I attended public school and graduated from High School barley, due to all the crap going on in my life. I then went on to work for different companies and individuals until I relocated to Maryland. My life didn't stop there it is still a journey one that I am enjoying to the fullest.
My beginnings have made me the person I am today. I am stronger, resilient, and more determined to prove to myself that my life does truly have meaning and that I value the opportunity to be alive. I have transformed myself plenty of times, just like the lotus flower ever unfolding to reveal my true beauty.
